Memories
The memories inside this family no one would ever guess…so many regrets.
This family had so much to hide and so many secrets hidden within….and the sin, the sin.
But the plastic smiles they wore, adorning their faces were real to them… nothing took their place….for they had lived with them too long…they didn’t know there was “The More.”
The Grim Reaper was always standing by waiting for them to slip, telling lie after lie, goading them to continue the facade…how very sad they all had become.
Until one day, as if by chance, a meeting took place that gave them a glance at the life they had lived to regret.
It happened quite by accident.
A light shone through the window one night and seemed to linger for hours. Thoughts of what they had become kept reeling through their hearts and minds. The light was blinding as it shone through their darkness. When it was over a firm, captivating voice spoke through the light.
As if the timing was everything, the voice said, “God sent me to show you the more you have missed. Since you have nowhere else to go but down, let me give you a little hope you might not have known.”
“It is the Lord.”
You might get a little bored but if you will tarry a while with me, you will see the more I long to show you as we travel together on this journey.
It will take some of your time, time you think of as precious, but it will be worth more than silver or gold. Its cost to you will be nothing, but what I will give you in return will be everything.
“Will you tarry with me, or will you be forever in a hurry?” the voice asked patiently.
“The choice has been laid at your feet as to what to do for I was told not to make you,” stated the voice.
“Once again I say, "The choice is up to you." "You can stay in a Sea of Doubt, regret, and uncertainty or you can tarry with me for a while and learn what I have longed to show you.”
“I will not make you.”
They were astonished at the words but they cut deep into their hearts and they knew they were from the Lord. They had no idea where to start but they wanted a new life, a new start…no more plastic smiles.
So they began to listen to the light and asked for the way. It required of them their time and effort each and every day . They did spend time they didn’t think they had. And each day rolled into the next and before too long, they realized that much time had passed. They were able to look back and see exactly where they were saved the night the light appeared to help show them the way…
The pain and regret they had suffered, the unhappy life they were use to became easier with time, and their lives were set on a new course after all the years of defeat. The past memories had been washed with the blood of the Lamb.
Knowing that life their way of living was finally over, relief swept through them. But this time their smiles were not plastic...They knew God had saved them the night the light appeared through the window.
He had a better life for them that was just waiting for them. Then, too they knew when the choice was given to them it would be up to them to step forward. But they see they made the right choice. Hindsight. They knew they wouldn’t have the peace today if they hadn’t believed the light that was sent through their window that night...and the memories of their past grief and strife? They remained to show them what indeed the light had truly done.
The Grim Reaper was no more in their hearts and minds.....the light had finally taken over forever, never to be seen again.
