Mark 11:22-24
So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God.” For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea, ‘and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. “Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.”
So does this mean I can ask for whatever I want? Can I ask for a new car? Can I ask for a new home? How about some new clothes? And hey, I am all about asking and receiving!
Are we talking literally about moving a mountain? Well, maybe…God’s will…faith…your heart. These are the keys that can unlock or move a mountain in your life.
I was raised in West Virginia. Talk about mountains! The mountains that I grew up with were always very comforting to me. It was as if I was surrounded by a protection of some unseen force. They were beautiful to look at. But, the mountains that Jesus is talking about in the above scripture are not visible ones.
I was always driven by my emotions. I followed every impulse, every whim, every little feeling. I didn’t stand on God’s promises because I didn’t even know that there were promises to stand on! I was ignorant of God’s will for my life. I had NO faith cause I didn’t even know about having faith.
God’s word teaches that we all have the same measure of faith. He is no respecter of persons. You’ve got the same faith to exercise as I have but you have to know that you have it in order to use it. I have been using mine since I was a baby Christian. I didn’t know I couldn’t “speak” to the mountain. Thank goodness no one told me I couldn’t. I just believed so therefore I received. I actually spoke out loud to the obstacles as the Holy Spirit led me and they were moved.
Let’s take my heart, for example. When I became born-again, I received a new heart. It strives to do things God’s ways, not my old ways. It thinks His thoughts. It trys to react the way Jesus did. It trys to help the way Jesus would and trys to love the way Jesus did. Definitely a hard act to follow but that is what I try to do. He said, “Follow Me.” I took it at its face value….no more, no less. If Jesus speaks to the mountain….Molly speaks to the mountain.
It is hard to believe in something you cannot see like FAITH but that is exactly what God requires of us in order to move those mountains in our lives. You can feel the wind but you cannot see it. Faith is the same in that you can speak His words into a situation and the mountain will obey you, no matter what the mountain is. But you have to be fluid in your faith. By that I mean you have to believe from the top of your head to the tips of your toes. Nothing wavering…nothing.
There is an actual, real war that goes on above our heads that we cannot see. Our faith, our prayers, our speaking God’s word into the seemingly blank air has everything to do with our victory on earth and moving the mountains in our situations.
Receiving something that isn’t visible? Yes, that is what faith is…and just because you can’t see it, doesn’t mean it isn’t real.
How about great health? How about a supernatural covering to protect us? Destroying financial worry? Lack? Sound weird to you? Then you won’t get this message, but if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can speak to the mountain in your life and it has to obey you.
Hosea 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.
I like all of the choices put before me when it has something to do with my life so I can make a wise decision. If you don’t have all of the choices, how can you do just that? Today, I give you another choice you might not have known about. Step out in faith and speak to your mountain.
On a clear day you can see forever….IF there is no mountain in the way..
