Give me a pill and I'll feel better. Give me a drink so I'll forget. Give me a cig. It'll help my nerves. Ugh! I can hardly take a breath. Let me have sex, I need someone to love me. As a matter of fact, I can't get enough. What is your name? Oh, yes. I remember! Could you pass me my pills so I'll forget and don't forget a drink to wash them down!

 Real Issues
Come as you are... get what you need.

Real Life Questions will become a thing of the past but will be archived on the lefthand side of the page in case you are interested.  We all have real issues to face each and every day and they can be tough to handle. We will attempt to use this section of the site to deal with those.  Hate, anger, biotry and jealousy are just a few of the things we will endeavor to address .  We at Jesuswithoutthejunk don't all go around with '24 hour' a day smiles slapped on our faces just because we are trying to follow a living Savior.

If there was one scripture you could tell others to learn and get into their heart and mind (only one, mind you), which could be transforming which one would it be?

The scripture that has been revolutionary for me and my life is found in Revelation 12:11.  The Holy Spirit enlightened this scripture to me years ago and it, through time, has proved to be the most significant scripture in my life. (Other than to love God with all my heart)  I have fought Satan toe to toe for the sake of the Gospel and I have overcome.  It hasn’t been easy and I can tell you I really wish it had not been my call, but nevertheless, I learned through the school of hard knocks just how real Satan is.  What I also learned is just how much power and authority we have as a child of God to defeat him in our lives……knowing that one scripture alone would be enough to do this. We have to understand that Satan is real and he has no regard for human life.

What does Idolatry mean?

Idolatry literally means to worship idols.  Idols to me might not be idols to you.   Idolatry is anything that exalts itself in your heart above God.  TV can be an idol if you are watching it so much it takes you from God.  I recall watching Christian TV so much that it became an idol to me.  I was spending time looking for answers from a TV set instead of the One who created the TV set.  Now don’t get me wrong. Christian television is a wonderful tool to use and God has indeed spoken a word to me when I needed it through a couple of preachers.  However, you have to be discerning when it comes to who you listen to and what you allow your spirit man to listen to.  Not everything is from God.  Nothing replaces spending time with God…. nothing.  I learned from the Holy Spirit one-on-one for three years before I watched much Christian TV.  There was one particular preacher God put in my path to learn faith from and one I listened to for his point of view on the Bible.  But 90% of what I learned was from spending time in the word with the Holy Spirit guiding me.  I did not learn what I have learned from going to church either.  If I had waited to learn from the church I thought I was placed in, I would have already been dead and God only knows what would have happened to my daughter.  Don’t let anything come before God in your heart (even church).  Something as small as food can be an idol if it is bigger in your mind than it needs to be.  Ask the Holy Spirit today to reveal any idols to you… then you can be certain that you are not putting anything in your heart before the ONE and only ONE who can help you.

What does it mean when Jesus says, ‘Take My yoke upon you?’

When I first read this scripture (Matthew 11:29-30), the first thing I thought of was a cooked egg  in  a frying pan.  I really didn’t fully comprehend this until much later in my walk with the Lord.  Because I felt I was such a sinner, I would overdo everything.  The Bible teaches that if someone asks you to go one mile, then go two miles (Matthew 5:38-42).  A lot of the time we tend to overdo every scripture we read….sometimes I did.  We need to read it, pray over it and then keep going in our lives and the Holy Spirit will reveal to us what and how it applies to us.  Some things are no-brainers, such as don’t judge people.  Because I wanted to please God so much, I took things to such an extreme that I was overworked, overtired and became very weak in my physical body.  I felt beaten to the point of total exhaustion.  This is not what God wanted for my life or what He wants for your life.  We put too hard a yoke upon our necks where at times, we can’t bear up under it.  It is like putting an actual yoke around an ox as it treads out the soil.  It is too much for us and we buckle under the pressure and a lot of people quit doing Jesus.  Don’t make this walk of yours harder than it needs to be.  I was pleasing people, more I think as I look back, instead of pleasing God.  I did a lot of good things but I am not Superwoman.  I have finally learned to "enter the rest" of the Lord where I can take “His yoke” upon me and be really happy with what I do.  He always lets me know if I am wrong or out of order….then I repent and get up and get going again…. Take His yoke upon you, for His burden is easy and His yoke is light.  I just finally figured that if Jesus could have a light yoke, then I should have a light yoke too.

Can Christ really turn a life around?

I am a living testimony that a life (any life for that matter) can be turned around by the power of the living Christ.  In order to have this happen though you have to be willing to submit to the authority of God through the Holy Spirit.  Most of my life I didn’t believe there was anything more to God than just going to church….I was wrong.  We all hear stories, at least I have, of people getting set free, delivered and healed by the power of Christ.  While growing up, I was never exposed to the power available to me as His child.  The power of the anointing of Christ is what is able to perform miraculous feats in human beings (Mark 16:16-18).  Most of us are only aware of what we are exposed to but I can tell you this:  Jesus is faithful and He will always try to get you the truth for your life and circumstances.  Whether or not you will listen and obey is another issue all together.  I am living proof of how God can take a life and turn it around.  The power is there and it is real to set you free, but the choice will be up to you.
