The Struggle Bus or WHOLAGN

By Susan G.

I saw this license plate yesterday, and I had to stop and think about what it meant. Who knows if it meant the same thing to the person that owned the vehicle, but to me, I read it as if it said, “whole again.”

You know, sometimes we feel like something is missing in our lives. We walk around missing someone or wondering what could repair us from a loss. I often tell my husband that I was on the “struggle bus” today. We all have those days. Not everyone has a perfect day. Things come and things go in our lives. Some days it's just hard to be happy. We float along and hang onto the moments that we are in. We can’t fix it. We often can’t make things better or make ourselves feel better by this or that, but we know that the Lord is with us. So, we exist.

We lean on the Word of the Lord. He keeps us upright and moving. He wraps his arms around us and comforts us. He wipes our tears away when we cry. He heals our hearts little by little. Months go by as if they were days, and we begin to feel whole again. My Lord has never let me down. Oh, there have been times that I have let him down, but I have learned that He forgives just as we should forgive. My life would be such a mess without him. I would have such an empty life, for this world is fading away little by little. There's a song that when I was little, we used to sing: Trust and obey, for there’s no other way to be happy in Jesus but to trust and obey.

What would you be without Him, and where would you be?
