My husband believes that you should change your oil in your car every three thousand miles. Most manufacturers say that seventy five hundred miles is what is recommended. In order to keep your engine in the best condition, you have to give it a little maintenance once in awhile. You need to periodically change the oil and check the brake pads. Have you checked the air in your tires lately or rotated them? You need to keep a checklist that tells you when particular items need to be serviced.
We as Christians need a little service checklist. When you don't change your oil, your engine will quit running. How is your engine doing? Is it still working to the best of its ability? Oil it by reading your Bible everyday. Are your brake pads worn thin and apt to cause you problems the next time you try and stop at a light? Make the repairs that you need so that you can sufficiently be out there for Jesus. Are you just so tired that you feel exhausted? Pray to Him for the strength to continue. He is there for your every need.
It takes proper maintenance to keep your body, your spirit and mind in check for Jesus. Every morning, look at your checklist and see what needs to be refueled, rewired or repaired in order to keep you spiritually in tune with Jesus.
