 The Quick Start Program

To bring God down to earth for you in a simple and clear way, I have designed the “Quick Start Program.” For those of you who have never had any God in your everyday life or have a little God without results, and especially for those of you who have little or no time, this is the plan for you! These simple but useful tips practiced every day will assure you of the success you need to climb to a new awareness in Christ.

STOP (Start to Pray)

I always believed I had little or no time, much less to stop and pray. What I discovered was that I was wrong (for the millionth time!). Stop doing everything else in the mornings and pray FIRST, not 2nd or 3rd, but the very first thing. As I began to give God my best (or first), he was faithful to come alongside and help me successfully navigate my day. Praying first will take some getting used to, but if you purpose in your heart to do it, you will be amazed at the outcomes, and you don’t have to say anything fancy. I learned the latter right off the bat because I knew nothing of praying. If God is faithful to me, He would be so to you. The keyword "STOP" is seen all over the world, so each time you see one now, start to pray!

Set a clock. Each morning, I would purpose to get up at least 15 minutes earlier. Then and only after then would I get my daughter up for school. When one is not in the habit of praying and establishing a set time for God, you would be amazed at how long 15 minutes can be. So, I started to set a clock (just for myself) to know how much time I was giving to God. Of course, the phone will ring, you will hear all sorts of noises, but make a commitment to yourself to stay steadfast and carry through. God will honor your effort. I noticed that everything went much better in my day when I placed Him first. There are 168 hours in each week, and to give God the first fifteen of each morning so my life would be better was the least I could do.

Ask God. There is a scripture in Luke 11:9 that says, "So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you." I started asking at least thirteen years ago, and I haven't stopped. I ask God everything. I could picture God in Heaven, telling the 12 disciples, "I sure will be glad when Molly gets home. I will have much more time for everybody else!" God is on the throne 24/7, and He never says, "times up"; see ya next week! Give me your $100.00 and hold everything else (and let it build up and fester) till next time. Learn to talk to Him. Ask Him!

Believe God hears you and is willing to help set you free. You must start somewhere and trust that He isn’t a puff of smoke in outer space. As I learned to walk with the Lord every day, I would get up from my prayers and believe He heard me. Jesus tells us that we must have the faith of a child to receive. He states that for of such is the kingdom of heaven (Matthew 18:3). Think about it for a minute. When you are young, you believe everything your parents and adults tell you. You are young and like a sponge and have not formed opinions of right or wrong. It is the same way with God; only He is not going to make you do this. You must want something more for your life. Get back to the little child within you who needs the love of a Father who is ready to listen with open ears!

Last but certainly not least, use your EARS to hear. I had someone tell me one time that ‘I needed to put my spiritual ears on.’ Well, what are those? Where do you get them? I want some! All I could imagine were two tremendous ears on either side of my head. One thing is paramount in learning to hear from God; you must keep your mouth closed. For me, this was a significant hurdle to overcome. I was the one who always, and I mean always, had to have the last word, the first word, and everything in between. I was amazed at what I began to hear when I shut up. Remember: silence is golden.

So, that’s it in a nutshell. Anything new will take time. I grew up in a generation that stated if you do anything for thirty days straight, it will become a habit. Well, try it for thirty days. I don’t know about you, but I can stay on Weight Watchers for thirty days, and then I want to go right off it again and stuff my face with a great big piece of chocolate cake! But I keep on trying, and I keep going. I don’t ever quit.

Remember:  Quitters never win, and winners never quit!

To recap the Quick Start program:
